Current Needs:

OHW is looking for 2-3 interns for the winter season (approx. 3-4 months). We are seeking a Development Intern, Communications Intern, and Grants Intern. Development & Communications Interns will be based in the San Francisco office with the possibility of remote work (in-office strongly preferred). The Grants intern will preferably be remote, but have the ability of in-office work as well.

The positions are unpaid internships that can be used for academic credit. Approximate start date is December 2nd, 2019 and the approximate end date is March or April 2020.

Development Intern

Who We Are:

One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization with more than 20 years of experience implementing maternal and neonatal health programs in some of the most remote areas of the world. Our mission is to end all preventable deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth worldwide. Currently, our programs operate throughout 16 districts of Nepal, representing a total population of 3.2 million and over 85,000 annual pregnancies. We have previously worked in Tibet and provided technical assistance to programs in China, Ecuador, Liberia, Mexico, and Peru.

Who You Are:

  • Currently in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or recently graduated
  • Passionate about international public health
  • Flexible and adaptable (Nonprofits are unpredictable!)

 

Development Intern Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with event planning including:

    • Research venues around San Francisco
    • Outreach to business and individuals to solicit live auction items for events
    • Event coordination and email
    • Research events to participate in around the San Francisco Bay Area

 

Assisting with other fundraising opportunities:

    • Research potential individual donors in the area with aligning interests and background to One Heart
    • Research possible corporate sponsorships
    • Donor relationship management including data entry into our donor database and communication with individual donors
    • Miscellaneous administrative tasks

Communications Intern

Communications Intern Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with social media Giving Tuesday/Year End Giving campaign (maintenance and tracking)
  • Basic design work for printed & multimedia needs
  • Researching videographers, photographers, and social media influencers who may consider partnering with OHW
  • Social listening and maintenance of social media presence 
  • Produce Instagram and Facebook story content
  • Help measure social media metrics
  • Produce MailChimp emails for our monthly update newsletter

 

Communications Intern Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop & InDesign
  • Experience with non-profit social media (preferred, not required)

Grants Intern

  • Researching new foundations & assess OHW’s fit in applying for new grants
  • Maintain and update various documents with questions and/or leads for each grant proposal
  • Complete background research needed for grant proposals
  • Research country profiles to contribute to our next country of operation
